Best practice for women with substance abuse problems can be found in the Parent Child Assistance Programs (PCAP) in Alberta modeled on the work of Dr. Therese Grant and colleagues from the University of Seattle, Washington. The relationship between Alberta and Washington in terms of training and support for women struggling with addiction problems is about prevention, protection and preventing the intergenerational cycle of substance abuse.
